Guest Itinerary
Kangaroo Island has become known for its producers, establishing a reputation for dedicated growers, premium products and their
stories. Along with this comes the rich history of the island and its early settlers, including its rich maritime and agricultural history, and the early colonies that settled the island in the 1800s. Explore local products, meet the producers, and immerse yourself in the history of the Island.
Morning
Your Kangaroo Island Touring Company guide will collect you from your accommodation and start by heading to Emu Bay Lavender Farm, run by mother and daughter duo Sophie and Eliza Sheridan. At the cafe nestled between rows of lavender, you will have the opportunity to taste some of the lavender-influenced sweet treats including the iconic lavender scones, along with browsing the lavender products, handmade on site. You will then enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch at the historic Reeves Point, which is the site of the first official settlement of South Australia and home to a range of native birds and wildlife.
Afternoon
After lunch, you will follow the Cygnet River Trail, stopping at Kangaroo Island Wool, a local collective of wool farmers, showcasing their products from the paddock to consumer. The wool mill allows guests to experience the Island’s agricultural history and community.
The onsite shop allows you to browse some of the premium merino wool products, handcrafted on-island. Just down the road, your next stop, Islander Estate Vineyards and Cellar Door, a local winery established in 2000 by Bordeaux winemaker Jaques Lurton. In the cellar
door, surrounded by native bushland, enjoy a guided tasting of the Islander Estate range. Your final stop is the iconic Clifford’s Honey Farm, a second generation family business showcasing Kangaroo Island’s pure Ligurian honey, the rarest honey in the world. Discover the secrets behind honey production with an interpretive display and try some of their honey products, including Jenny’s homemade ice-cream, and a range of local products.
