In the winter perhaps you will be playing in the snow – but whatever the weather, take the opportunity to visit iconic kunanyi/Mt Wellington. On this fully escorted tour, enjoy the vast views of Hobart and surrounds, you will drive through the harsh alpine environment of the mountain and view the massive rock formation of the Organ Pipes.After our visit to the summit of Mount Wellington, the tour continues to the World Heritage Site Cascade Female Factory, for an insight into the lives of the women convicts once imprisoned there. There is approximately 45-minutes to explore the site on a self-guided tour and learn about convict life and a largely untold story of convict women and the role they have played in developing modern Australia. Wander through the site at your own pace and peruse the gallery, gift shop and interpretive displays.You could spend more time at the Female Factory, than make your own way back to Hobart via the scenic Hobart Rivulet Track. There is a chance that you may spot a platypus frolicking in the rivulet. The track from the Female Factory to Molle Street, in the city, is approximately 2 klm, a pleasant 20 minute walk. When you arrive at Molle Street you may choose to enjoy a coffee at the Hamlet Cafe, situated where this part of the Hobart Rivulet Track finishes.~~~~ |
